2017: What I Read

Here’s my year in books (with thanks to the Goodreads record keeping tool): Continue reading

The ongoing saga of the stupid TBR stack…

It’s the time of the year when I check in on the TBR stack. Last year I had a book-buying ban and that certainly made a huge difference. This year I didn’t have a strict book-buying ban and although I didn’t go mental in Readings, I did borrow lots from the library…not helpful in terms of the TBR stack.

I started the year with 365 books in the stack. I set a goal of finishing the year with 299.

I didn’t get anywhere near that. Continue reading

Hurry and finish #ALLTHEBOOKS

I had to make an appointment this morning for about four weeks hence. And the date is in November. And I freaked out. Because after November comes December and then that’s the year, done and dusted. Good grief.

So, given that we’re getting to the pointy end of things, what’s my reading plan? I have some reading challenges to complete, a book club selection, a few ARCs and a couple of books that have been sitting next to my bed for far too long – Continue reading

I want…

Bookish (and not so bookish) Thoughts

01. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that my 9yo daughter had a ‘to-do’ list. I’m pleased to report that she sat in the car yesterday knitting, blowing bubbles and listening to Cantonese CDs (thanks to my lovely friend, Sam, we’ve got the ‘knitting sticks’ out and we’re both knitting together). The book-buying-ban update

At the beginning of the year, I seemed to do a lot of moaning about my book-buying-ban. I was thinking about it again last week when I blog-slapped* Marie Kondo.

But in actual fact, I’m killing it. After the initial few weeks of hyperventilating every time I went near a book shop, I’ve calmed down and can now safely walk through the Readings New Releases section without needing to breathe into a paper bag. Continue reading
