Hello 2017

Happy New Year lovely people!

I’m not mad on resolutions… Not ones that aren’t achievable, anyway. Things like ‘have more belly laughs with dear friends’ and ‘attend excellent dinner parties’ are fine.

And reading resolutions fall into the same category, although this year I’m aiming to tick something off my reading bucket-list – War & Peace (with the help of the Serial Reader app).

I’ve also been wishing to get a cookbook book group together (a bunch of friends all cook from the same cookbook and you sample the results – voila! Catered book group!). Perhaps 2017 is the year.

Hope 2017 is fabulous.

  1. No, I don’t really do resolutions either. I prefer to do a recap at the end of the year – particularly in terms of what new thing/s did I do or learn this year? Except as I get to be an older dog these days there seems to be fewer of these “new” things. Still, this year we finally did take the plunge into proper smart phones. (I’ve had a iPad though for over 5 years so I’m not exactly a luddite – I just hate phones, always have). And I did decide to join your 6 Degrees challenge!

My main resolution is simply to try to read more each year than I did the last. And I usually think a people one like try to have more people over for a meal. (I’ll add “and have more belly laughs” to that now!)

  2. Happy 2017! I’ve just started W&P as I decided 2017 was the year I finally tackled it. I’m actually quite hopeful as so many people seem to love it. I’ll let you know how it goes…

The cookbook club is a brilliant idea!

    • Another blogger put me onto it (can’t remember who though 😕). There’s heaps of books available through it and although I spent ages researching which translation of War & Peace I should read, once I had it, it sat on my shelf for years! I figure if I start with the Serial app and become engrossed, I’ll switch to the book.

  3. Those are excellent resolutions. I’m also hoping to tick off some classics from my list… my bestie is helping nudge me towards finally tackling Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. 🙂
